- Thyrotoxicosis is over-activity of the thyroid gland. Medical conditions related to the endocrine system can result in abnormal weight gain or weight loss, height issues or kidney failure in some cases. Thyrotoxicosis is also called hyperthyroidism, the medical condition resulting from excessive production of thyroid hormones.
